This a world first! A distance learning course in practical surgery! The aim would be to give the aspiring surgeon sufficient skill to allow him/her to begin to operate on patients under direct strict supervision of an experienced otological surgeon.
Mr Pettigrew will provide bones, one at a time, to a total of 10. He will supervise the dissection either by Skype, internet still photography, telephone, or by sending the bones back and forth by post. A returnable dissected bone will accompany each virgin bone to provide the participant with guidance for each stage of the dissection. If the participant felt that progress was not sufficient a refund will be made for all bones not used.
